Larry's
Corner
Dear Affiliate
Leaders,
We need your help to
complete an important 5-10 minute
survey, Please submit by Monday,
March 16. Click here to
begin.
Three years ago, the National Wildlife
Federation (NWF) Board of Directors approved an
ambitious strategic plan that focused on
building a diverse conservation movement to
confront climate change, protect and restore
wildlife habitat, and reconnect people with
nature. The ultimate vision is to restore
a conservation ethic to a majority of Americans
by 2020.
Today, Americans are
focused on the economy, jobs, health care,
national security and creating a
new energy future. Given that NWF's
mission is "to inspire Americans to protect
wildlife for our children's future" how
can we insure that protecting our natural
resources remains a priority for our
country?
Our Board of
Directors is updating our strategic plan and
believes it is critical to solicit advice from
a diverse array of strategic
thinkers to provide your thoughts
by filling out a simple online
survey. Please submit by Monday, March
16. http://online.nwf.org/site/R?i=jPBVaoDE3MA6OaBZovIcog...
Your responses will be compiled to
inform our board and staff as we hone our
strategies and priorities to best build a
diverse and powerful conservation movement to
achieve our mission.
Thanks for your time and commitment to a
bright future for our wildlife and our
children.

Environmental League of
Massachusetts

The Environmental League of
Massachusetts recently launched a collaborative
initiative to connect the environmental
community and corporate leaders. A word
from ELM President George Bachrach, "much
of our work is collaborative in nature, and the
new ELM Corporate Council has
added important new voices to our work.
We seek out partnerships with other
organizations whereever it can help achieve our
mission - protecting the air, land and water
for the benefit of both people and
wildlife. Our work with NWF as
their affiliate makes obvious sense, but
creation of our Corporate Council was more
counter-intuitive. The strength of the
initiative is policymakers are used to
being pressured by "environmentalists" to
protect the environment, that pressure is much
more effective when corporate leaders are
standing shoulder-to-shoulder with us.
That kind of joint messaging helps insulate our
policy proposals from attacks by the old-school
corporate naysayers who believe the
environment and economy are in conflict.
While joining with ELM on policy
initiatives, Corporate Council members also
serve as models of good corporate behavior,
addressing energy conservation, waste
reduction, and sustainable harvest of
seafood." Read more about

Council.
